MATARIKI FORESTRY GROUP PRIVACY POLICY
Introduction
We value your privacy, and we make it a point not to ask for personally identifying information that we don't really need.
This policy is applicable to MFG Management Limited and the Matariki Forestry Group (together MFG).
MFG understands the importance of keeping your personal information secure and private. MFG will handle all personal information that you have provided to MFG in accordance with this Privacy Policy and the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
This Privacy Policy sets out our and your rights and obligations in relation to personal information that you may provide, either when using the MF website available at www.matarikiforests.co.nz or the MF online induction system (individually or together “MFG’s Sites”) or in the course of our normal business activities.

Types of personal information we collect
MFG does, in the normal course of its business, collect personal information from you. This may include your:
- name
- contact information
- location
- correspondence with MFG
MFG may automatically collect the following information about your use of MFG’s Sites through cookies, web beacons, and other technologies: your domain name; your browser type and operating system; web pages you view; links you click; your IP address; the length of time you visit MFG’s Sites and or use MFG’s Services; the referring URL, or the webpage that led you to MFG’s Sites; and MFG’s access time, browser type, domain name, IP address and page views.
Log Files
Log files contain information that is made available by your web browser. This information, which is not personally identifying, is stored on our web server. It includes your browser type, language preference, referring site and the date and time of every page request. MFG collect this information to understand how its website is used, be able to generate reports on the usage of its website, help with website administration, analyze user activities on its Sites, and collect information about its user base in general. MFG does not link the information contained in these log files to personally identifying information.
Cookies and Web Beacons
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your computer. It contains information that your browser provides to the website each time you return. They are used for record keeping purposes and so that information which you previously provided can be retrieved to facilitate your use of MFG’s Sites. A web beacon is a graphical image that serves to monitor your interaction with a website. MFG uses web beacons, along with cookies and log files, to provide it with analytical information that MFG can use to improve website performance and user experience in general. MFG does not link this information to personally identifying information.
Managing Cookies
If you do not wish to enable cookies, you can adjust your browser settings before visiting MFG Sites and turn off cookies for it or our third-party advertisers. However, disabling cookies may affect how MFG’s Sites and those of its advertising partners (if any) will function for you.
Purpose of collecting Personal Information
MFG collect your personal information in order to:
- manage MFG’s recruitment practices;
- induct contractors and other parties;
- allow contractors and members of the public to access MFG’s properties; and
- respond to queries by members of the public via MFG’s web site.
Disclosure of Personal Information
MFG does not sell, rent, or otherwise make available any personal information to third parties. However, for the purpose of providing services to you and safely and efficiently operating MFG’s business, personal information may, as required, be transferred to, or handled by:
- Firstly, relevant MFG field staff, security contractors and first responders if appropriate, in order to ensure safety of visitors and contractors whilst on any MFG estates, along with the protection of property and plant and equipment.
- Secondly, credit reference agencies or other credit providers;
- And thirdly, government and regulatory authorities.
If you choose not to provide the information sought, MFG may be unable to assist you with your inquiry.
Storage and Retention of Personal information
MFG is committed to keeping personal information secure. MFG will take all reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information provided by you is protected from misuse and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. Once your personal information is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected, MFG will take all reasonable steps to delete or destroy it.
Access and Correction of your personal information
You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong.
Disclosure to overseas recipients
MFG may disclose your Personal Information to service providers who are located outside of the country where you are based, such as cloud storage providers. Our service providers are located overseas, currently in Australia.
MFG will ensure that personal information transferred overseas from the country where you are based is protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy and the Privacy Act.
Third party terms
MFG’s sites may contain third party links leading to other websites that are not managed by us, and which may not follow the same privacy policies that MFG adopts. Where you click a link, you understand that you will commence dealing with a third party that we are unable to control. Your dealing when on that linked site will be subject to the terms that the owner of that site wishes to offer. MFG recommends that you check any relevant privacy policies before providing your personal information to any third party.
Changes to Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy was last updated July 2025. MFG may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, and if it does so, MFG will post the updated policy on its Site. The date it was last updated is set out below. If you do not accept the contents of this Privacy Policy, please do not provide us with your personal information.

Complaints
If you are making a complaint, MFG may request additional details from you and may need to engage or consult with other parties in order to investigate and deal with your complaint. MFG will investigate your queries and privacy complaints within a reasonable period of time, depending on the difficulty of your complaint. MFG will notify you of the outcome of the investigation.
