Rayonier Matariki Forests’ Otago Harvest Forester, Sarah de Gouw, has been awarded the inaugural FRESTRA Young Forester of the Year Award.

A “lifetime” partnership between iwi-led environmental restoration group Wairere Mahi and Rayonier Matariki Forests will deliver significant rewards to the sacred area surrounding Killarney Lakes in the Kaimai Mamaku.

A posse of horses and their riders headed up Mt Thomas during Kings Birthday weekend to raise funds for North Canterbury Rural Support Trust (NCRST), a charitable organisation which supports farmers and their families through tough times.

Organised by local dairy farm manager, Tessa Hazley, the group of over 30 riders raised $2000 and Rayonier Matariki Forests, who owns the 1400 hectare Mt Thomas forest, added another $1000 to the donation. 

Tools were downed and the boots left at the door as Rayonier Matariki Forests held its Health & Safety kickoff events for the New Year.

A generous neighbourly gesture has ensured that Dipton School will have a rainy day investment to help fund future improvements to the school.

Only four weeks out from the annual BDO Parihaka Trail Run Cyclone Gabrielle put paid to the event with many of the tracks being damaged.

Before dawn, the Rayonier Matariki Forests team and their visitors assembled at the entrance to 8 Mahuhu Crescent, before being led upstairs to meet the kaumātua and representatives from central Tāmaki tangata whenua Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei for a dawn blessing of the new office space.
